With the help of Shaya Shultz, we created a simple exhibition on campus with some meaning more left to interpretation with some underlying meanings.
During the brainstorming phase we first noticed that the surrounding rocks would be interesting to have water flowing out and down the steps and then Shaya noticed how the rails look like fish jumping out of the water so we converged on this idea of salmon swimming upstream which it’s actually around that time of year that salmon do swim upstream. It’s also around that time of life that 3rd and 4th year students start to swim upstream in life with the transition of going from students to living on their own. The salmon go to their breeding grounds to live their rest of their lives while students go into the real world to start their life.
